The original site had these pictures oldies but goodies on it:
Some of my first pictures – taken with my first digital camera, my Minolta, and the next generation, my Nikon, and some scanned old photos in there, also – plus some Photoshop work that I did, while learning, mostly – with tips from my son, Will. What you do not see, is the transition that I was undergoing, as a person. And the representations of that in pictures. As well, the faces and moods captured of members of my family, and friends who have been included in my life as those leading figures who have influenced me. What I cannot explain (for now) is why I do not have that many pictures of my Mom. But she is now well represented on this site.
Mom underwent a personality transformation as she aged. I believe that she was in a great deal of conflict for some reason, not satisfied with her life, therefore, acted out instead of working it out. Unfortunately, we were witnesses, if not victims, of some of these episodes. From about 1978 until about 2000, right before my Dad passed away, we really lost the Mom that I had always known before that. She did return somewhat, fully restored, and as we learned, it was self-medication that actually caused this issue – trying to get out of pain that she was having and the depression that came with the pain-killing brought on the old anger and “stuff” that she had dragged along most of her adult life.
I had to protect my boys from this, although this was not always easy. I did the best that I could with some help from others along the way. Those friends know who they are. I dearly love them for hanging with me. They are, like my cousins from my Dad’s family, my sisters in life.
There were other challenges along the way, and eventually, I had to deal with all of them, one at a time. Life changing – sea changes – and the first ellenspictures consisted of photographic bits and bites that represent more than you can imagine, behind each one of them. Some people are missing, by design – but because it was hard to erase “moments” the place is captured, or the other aspects that lend to the memories.
