Foodies. Just a few pictures of food from around the planet. Even from our home…

Food is an element in life that is both for survival as well as it is for building community within families, as a social driver, and a comfort shared during times of stress in life – a way of showing care is to share food. It is an interesting aspect of culture and driven by climate characteristics of a place.

The consumption of different types of foods can be mapped whereby curiously, the spiciest foods are prevalent in the hotter climes so as to make people sweat to get cooler, and vitamin rich foods are consumed where people need those vitamins because they may be lacking in some other aspect of the diet. The colder climes tend to consume blander foods with more fat. Could be related to needing to be heavier to stay warm. Our food experiences sample those from the UK, Europe and its famous flavors by country or region, Australasia, Southeast Asia, the USA and all it’s food regions – which are regional in and of themselves, Mexico, Central America – Costa Rica, the Caribbean, offshore South America, Canada, and any area we travel that is new to us.

Some foods are common to many regions. Fascinating is that foods that are native to environments are often taken to other environments and it gets mixed up as to food origins…
